She says: ‘For people that have doubts that healthy living and exercise works, well… I hope this gives you a little piece of mind. That was me in the blue about 2 and a half years ago. I was at my heaviest in that picture and the weight gain was all within 4 months. I spent days and nights eating donuts, not sleeping, drinking lattes and studying. My weight was about 138 pounds. And going from 112 to 138 is a lot in 4 months. The weight went to my arms, stomach and ass and boobs and thighs and face. GROSS. I was so embarrassed when my boyfriend lifted me and said I was the heaviest girl he had ever dated. The very next day I took my ass to the gym and decided I would never be that heavy again.
The first year was spent on doing the wrong things… I still ate crap but tried to burn it off with the gym. So in the end I didn’t see results. I even tried diet pills and they did not work. Fast forward to 2012. Within the last 8 months I’ve changed my eating and started weights and this is what I look like today: picture of me in purple dress. I’m strong, healthy and confident. So yes, a weight loss journey is long and hard but it’s worth it!!!’
She says: ‘The first month was definetly the hardest – I wanted to quit, but I wanted to prove everyone wrong as well. I am in the process of learning to love my body. I’m learning to love the fact that even at 120 pounds, I have stretch marks, that my stomach isn’t perfectly flat, that my legs aren’t sticks, and that I get stomach rolls when I sit down. But I also learned that if I don’t love my body at 156 pounds, I won’t love it when I’m 120 pounds.’

She says: ‘The way I look at weight and approach weight management is in terms of habits. I believe that if we approach weight loss systematically by making small changes in our habits, we are more likely to keep weight off than if we make major sacrifices (i.e. eliminating carbs)‘
